I would very much enjoy having three stage power at my firm.

Why? Don't remember I've e'er heard of 3 phase as being enjoyable. Do y'all have whatsoever machinery like woodworking or maybe a milling car or lathe that would benefit from 3 stage?

Proceed in heed that the heating ability of a 240v appliance (water heater, clothes dryer, etc.) volition exist but 75% on 208v.

I accept two options for running power to a house I would similar to build:

a) Extend unmarried-phase power line ane,600 feet to firm underground.

b) Extend three-stage power 2,300 feet underground.

Wondering if anyone can describe in relative terms the toll deviation between the two? I would very much savor having three phase ability at my house.

As others accept said, we need more details. I assume this would be master. Does poco allow you lot run primary or do you lot have to pay them to do it? If it's an mgn arrangement, then you merely need one concentric neutral cable and its nigh $2.15 per foot. Probably volition want to protect it with ii" PVC, .70 cents per foot. If information technology's a Delta distribution arrangement, you lot need two cables for single phase. If it'southward three phase you need 3. Poco may take charges also, which could be essentially more than for three phase.

I can't imagine a utility primary without a neutral. If there are secondary conductors strung betwixt poles, their neutral can likewise be the chief neutral.

For case, the lower left wires in this pic:

Some people observe this foreign, but there are extensive distribution systems in sure parts of the country that are ungrounded Delta. Upstate NY has lots of it. IIRC Michigan does too.

As well worth noting is the number of bushings doesn't necessarily make up one's mind whether information technology's a grounded arrangement or not. My poco uses the same transformer for their ungrounded 4800 every bit their xiii.two/7.62 mgn system ( it has a selector switch). So that is two bushing even though they don't demand the second for the mgn system. It is also possible that they upgraded a Delta organisation to a wye to increase capacity, and the existing transformers were reused only now connected line to neutral.

I have two options for running ability to a firm I would like to build:

a) Extend single-stage electric line 1,600 feet to house underground.

b) Extend iii-phase ability ii,300 anxiety clandestine.

Wondering if anyone tin can describe in relative terms the cost deviation betwixt the two? I would very much savour having iii phase power at my house.

someone is gonna accept to change a pole pig, or run an open up delta, which is most probable.
without a compelling connected revenue load, this isn't gonna happen anywhere.

just a swag, but somewhere in the $12k~$16k range is probably realistic.

i have a brand new in the box three hp M/G rotophase you tin accept for $300 plus shipping.
they were somewhere merely shy of $2k, 10 years ago.
